Its a surprisingly small tweak because of how limited you are but it makes the ship so much more fun to play. Even a tier 3 might be a better choice depending on circumstance.

Basically defence drones are great as they protect you from missiles and save you on repairs. A boarding drone always causes a hull breach in the room it lands in however the drone doesnt require air and will remain active unless it is destroyed or loses power.
